PCIA Studio Art Courses

"Finding the medium that fits you best" is about exploration, trial and error; working in an environment that teaches technique and skill building, while empowering each student to tap into their innate creative process.

Problem solving, visual communication of ideas, innovation, designing are all aspects of creating Visual Arts and keys to success in an increasingly tech based society.
PCIA offers a growing number of Studio Art courses allowing students to explore and reach their fullest potential, regardless of prior experience.

Art Fundamentals - Explore  printmaking, life drawing,  painting, and sculpture while learning to apply elements and principal of Design. This course is recommended to all incoming students as a foundation to College in the HS Studio Art Courses offered for Sophomore, Junior and Senior Students.  

Art 230 Drawing I and Art 232 Drawing II (3 Credit CGCC- takes your drawing to a level you only imagined! Using a wide variety of drawing mediums, students learn the skills of life drawing in different methods, gain confidence, observe what they want to draw, rendering it in a life like way. This course is all hands on, a deep dive for those who want to develop skills, draw in a realistic manner, then experiment and express themselves developing their own unique style. 

Art 280 Painting Basics (3 Credit CGCC) - teaches the concepts of color theory and paint application in a variety of styles. Influenced by master painters from European Impressionism to Contemporary modern, students explore the context in which art movements happen, how artist are inspired and become innovators that change forever society's perspective.  Students complete numerous studies and personal works, as well collaboration in Art for a Social Purpose. For the beginning Painter, it is recommended students have completed Art Fundamentals or have practiced perspective and life drawing.
